Exciting times and a great opportunity has come our way. Today we were called by ABC – 4 “Good Things Utah” to step in and decorate the set for their 10th Anniversary Celebration on Friday, October 22. Many thoughts of what we thought would be a great way to enhance their sets flowed as we went to the studio to assess what would actually be possible to show that a party was in progress. We were given the go ahead to do a balloon drop but because of all the stage lights (too much heat would have the balloons popping) we aren’t able to proceed with a balloon drop (too bad because they are so fun to assemble and release). So a multi-colored arch, balloon bouquets and a “wall of balloons” will set the stage for their celebration. Will post pictures tomorrow.

Normally weddings are planned 6 – 12 months ahead and there is plenty of time to plan and decide how you want your special day to go. We were contacted 3 weeks ago to help create a memorable day for a couple who got engaged on July 3 and are getting married on August 3!
We quickly got organized, got the details down and have been working to create a beautiful backyard wedding for a small family and friend gathering. The bride has a beautiful backyard where the wedding will be held. It has been a busy time with getting everything planned and ready so that the couple just enjoys the day but it is coming together. It is truly exciting. Check back to see the pictures.
Merry Bee’s Events can definitely handle any size wedding and handle even those quick wedding dates!
Today I am sharing with you some decorating ideas using balloons as arches and canopies. There is infinite number of ideas that can be created. We can create a canopy for the out-of-doors family gathering that will enthrall all your guests. How about a great theme party for that special birthday that makes your child’s smile light up? Here is just a sample of what we can create together between us.
Last time that I posted I asked the question about the difference between hue, tint, shade and tone. Did you take the time to look up the answer? Well let me share with you what I have been learning.
Hue is the brightest and purest colors that form the full spectrum of the color wheel (there is no white or black added).
Tint is any color in which white has been added. (These are our pastel colors.)
Shade is any color in which black has been added.
Tone is when black and white is added and the color is “grayed down”.
The last couple of days I have really been learning about the principles of design and the general rules of thumb about the creating and placing of centerpieces and determining the placement of flowers in the arrangements. There are basic terms to know and understand. They are space, positive space, negative space, unity, balance, harmony, rhythm and proportion and scale.
Do you know the difference between symmetrical and asymmetrical? In my next post I will share the difference and a few more tidbits.
Making different types of bridal bouquets, wrist corsages and centerpieces has been a lot of work but very fun and educational. Look forward to helping you determine what you need and would like for your next family event or party.
The next two days I will be learning about draping with material. Really am looking forward to learning about enhancing the decor of any event. Stay tuned!!
It has been a very busy past couple of days of learning wonderful skills of working with balloons. Today we worked with making arches, balloon flowers and arches. It is so amazing to actually learn these skills. Events decorated with this wonderful balloon art will so enhance your event.
Be sure to call and schedule an appointment so that we can discuss what you would like at your next birthday celebration, family party, wedding, anniversary, etc,. You will be amazed at how your event will come to life.
Here is an interesting fact: Balloons are made of latex, which is a natural biodegradable product that won’t harm the environment.
Here is a question for you: Do you know the difference between Hue, Tint, Shade and Tone?
In my next post I will look for your answers and report back.
